For Our Beloved Anabel - Fly On, Rock Goddess
(ANABEL BOSCH 1976-2009)

by Ginny Mata

This is the online support group for the family and friends of Anabel Bosch, who suffered an aneurysm and subsequent massive brain hemorrhage on January 1, 2009.

Although she fought tooth and nail for the first few days after her surgery, despite the aggressive treatments provided for her by her doctors and her sister, Dr. Marlies Bosch, Anabel passed away, quietly, ten days later, in the early morning of Sunday, January 11, 2009.

Ever the rock goddess, Anabel chose to fly away when the moon was literally at its biggest and brightest. It was also the same night that her 11-year-old daughter Mishka had her first-ever major 'gig', backed up by no less than the legendary Blue Rats, at a benefit show held for Anabel at Hobbit House.

For those of us who were lucky enough to have spent time with her during her all-too-brief life, Anabel was the strongest, most loving, fiery, and passionate woman we knew. Her blog (http://dizzychick76.multiply.com/) was testament to that, but oh, the woman herself was a bright, burning phoenix, yes, a rock goddess, yet made of very real flesh and bone.

She figured as one of the most important female musicians in our local industry, having worked with such bands as Tropical Depression, Electrikoolaid, Spy, and Analog. More than that, she was (and will continue to be) a great inspiration to many people, because she lived her life with such vigor and intensity, doing her best in everything that she did, be it as a focused, hard-working writer and editor, or as a dedicated mother to young Mischaela, or as a dutiful daughter and sister, or as an absolute whiz in the kitchen, or as a caring, loving friend.

The world was that much brighter simply because she was in it, with us. To say that she will be missed is the understatement of the century. It is as if the very fabric of time and space has been torn open ... and we do not know if we will ever be the same again.

A PLEA FOR HELP (for her daughter Mishka and her family)

During Anabel's 11-day stay at the Makati Medical Center, her medical bills accumulated to almost, if not more than, millions of pesos. Her surgery alone cost P500,000, and in addition to this, only after two days in the ICU, her bill had already ballooned to close to P300,000 (and that's without doctors' fees and lab expenses yet).

More than this, it is the future of her daughter, Mishka, that we want to be able to help provide for. We all know how expensive it is to raise a child: every year, there is at the very least a 20% -30% increase in tuition fees in all schools and universities, and with life being as hard as it is now because of the global economic crisis, even our everyday living expenses have become increasingly difficult to handle.

In short, Mish needs to be taken care of, the way her mother would have done for her, and it is up to us to help make sure she will grow up to be strong and healthy, and that she be given every opportunity to thrive and succeed.

So please continue to give what you can, this time to help preserve Anabel's true legacy through her only child, the bright, beautiful Mishaela Bosch.

WAKE DETAILS

You may pay your respects to Anabel and her family during the wake from January 11 - 19, 2009 at the Bosch family compound at 350 Protacio St., Lemuria Compound, Pasay City. On the ninth day of the wake, January 19, there will be a final mass for Anabel. Once details of this have been finalized, we will post them here.

Directions to the Bosch compound:

1. From Edsa, turn right on Taft Ave. (under the LRT), then right again at the first stoplight. This is Protacio St.

2. From Pasay Road (AKA Arnaiz St.), turn left on Taft Ave. (under the LRT). When you see the Shell gas station on your right (note that it is closed, so will not be lit at night -- you have to watch for it), turn left on Protacio St. The compound is on the right side of the street, down a driveway.

NO GOODBYES

We won't say goodbye to you, Anabel, because we will surely see you in the next life, in heaven. You're part of the cosmos now, you're in the air, the sky, the stars. Rest now, angel, bright, burning goddess. Fly back, with your wide, wide wings, back to your Creator. We love you, always and for all eternity.
