VINYARD's music defies strict labeling. Moving on pop rock, new wave, modern rock, acid jazz, and chamber pop styles, it is influenced by the Jars of Clay, the Beatles, the Smiths, U2, Sting & the Police, R.E.M., The Cure, Smashing Pumpkins, Goo Goo Dolls, among others.
Vinyard is Burn Gutierrez on lead vocals/guitars, Aris "Toots" Jacob on drums, Shernan Sampang on lead guitars, Aye dela Cruz on bass. Their music is a melancholic pop work laden with pouring noisy-sweet and ethereal guitars, playful dramatic basslines, textured acoustic guitars, and driving percussion, emotionally-packed back up croonings, topped with Burn's expressive vocals.
Vinyard was formed in January 2003 as a collaboration between the previous line up of The Kites and CLMC Band. They had their first major public performance at The PhilAm Life Theater with Nityalila, Cooky Chua/Mike Villegas, Inggo 1587, Soulspunk, and Noel Cabangon in March of 2003.
Eventually, the band was able to perform alongside other topnotch bands and artists of the country such as The Dawn, Rivermaya, Mayonnaise, Barbie’s Cradle, Battery, Kitchie Nadal, Slapshock, Paramita, Silent Sanctuary, Drip, Manomano, Imago, among others and has had radio guestings as well as TV and magazine interviews and features.
Recently, the band’s song “Nakaraan” was chosen to be the soundtrack for the upcoming Cinemalaya indiefilm Kadenang Liham.
The band has also played in various events and music joints such as Sanctum, Border Grill, Mayric’s, Pullover Bar, Freedom Bar, Foxsquare, Ateneo, Lyceum, UPHR and other school events.

His serious songwriting has earned some good critics and recognition such as the inclusion of his song “Nakaraan” which Vinyard played and recorded for the soundtrack of the indie film Kadenang Liham.
As the band’s leader, Burn has written a handful of expressive music and lyrics meant for the emotions and inspiration of its listeners.
As an artist, Burn has dabbled into several productions and benefit gigs with communities such as Indiepilipinas and Rock Ed Philippines.
He plays for the people he loves. He plays for the people who have no voice in the society. He plays for God and country.
Toots Jacob

Toots Jacob has played with various bands in Batangas back in college including the band that originally included him, Aye and Burn.
Toots loves to hear and play music, and loves to perform live
for both small and large crowds. He loves to entertain people.
He’s a ten-pin bowler (with certified average of 202). He
also loves video games. And, boy he loves pasta!!! Dearly loves watching the sunset on a beach...
After a long hiatus in the band scene, Toots is once more set to conquer the music scene with Vinyard as the official drummer (and occasional keyboardist)…
Aye dela Cruz

Aye dela Cruz is a serious musician who played and sang soulfully during the tremendous 90’s band scene and was seen performing with his college bands in events such as Oktoberfest, Faces of Rock, and other benefit events.
Having performed as a singer and guitarist for his previous bands, Aye is now accepting the paradigm shift as the new bassist of Vinyard.
Shernan Sampang

Shernan Sampang’s task as Vinyard’s new lead guitarist is a challenge for himself, veering away as much as possible from the shadow of the band’s former six-string exhibitionist and brother Sherwin Sampang.
Shernan started performing in high school as lead guitarist for his band. After several years of playing heavy music with other college bands, Shernan has finally settled to don the guitars for Vinyard.
