8 New Filipino Films in CANNES Int'l Film Festival 2013

The CANNES Int'l Film Festival 2013 (France) is one of the most prestigious and highly respected film festivals in the world. This year, 8 Filipino Films participated in the event.

  1. "Norte: Hangganan Ng Kasaysayan" by Lav Diaz -- Un Certain Regard section (starring Archie Alemania, Sid Lucero, Angeli Bayani, Soliman Cruz), produced by Raymond Lee;

  2. "Death March" by Adolfo Borinaga Alix Jr. -- Un Certain Regard section (starring Sam Milby, Sid Lucero, Zanjoe Marrudo, Jackie Woo);

  3. "On The Job" by Erik Matti -- Directors' Fortnight (starring Piolo Pascual, Gerald Anderson, Joel Torre, Shaina Magdayao, Rayver Cruz)

  4. Mga Engkantong Laog sa Mahabang Dapithapon”, short film by Derick Cabrido -- Short Films Corner (starring Ms Anita Linda)

  5. Katapusang Labok”, short film by Aiess Alonso -- Short Films Corner

  6. Oasis Redux”, short film by Carlo Francisco Manatad -- Short Films Corner (starring Katherine Luna)

  7. "The Grave Bandits" by Tyrone Acierto, produced by Vanessa Ulgado -- Marche du Film (film market);

  8. "Women of the Weeping" by Sheron Dayoc -- Marche du Film (film market)


Also featured there today was the world premiere of the "restored version" of National Artist for Film LINO BROCKA's "Maynila: Sa Mga Kuko ng Liwanag", attended by no less than the award-winning actress Ms HILDA KORONEL!... this restoration was sponsored by Film Development Council of the Philippines (FDCP) in partnership with Martin Scorsese’s World Cinema Foundation (WCF).

Angeli Bayani is also cast in the Singaporean film "Ilo Ilo" also featured in Directors' Fornight section.
