Maja Salvador not picky with roles

MANILA, Philippines – Maja Salvador, one of the Kapamilya network’s most popular actresses, isn’t worried about getting more support roles.

“Kasi, sa akin, hindi importante sa akin kung ako ‘yung bidang-bida,” the actress was quoted as saying by PEP in an article posted on Dec. 28.

Maja cited one of her TV projects this year, “Minsan Lang Kita Iibigin,” where she played  the role of a girl from a rebel group who falls in love with the lead characters, twin brothers (a soldier and a fellow rebel) both played by Coco Martin. According to her, she's “happy” about it “dahil yung character ko du’n, kahit papa'no, napansin talaga.”

“Minahal talaga ng mga tao yung character naming dalawa ni Coco,” she added.

The actress appeared next in the primetime block through the Kim Chiu-starrer, “My Binondo Girl,” where she made a temporary stint as one of the antagonists.

Likewise, Maja isn’t bothered about getting non-primetime deals. Referring to her now-defunct successful afternoon soap “Impostor,” she said, “Kahit na sa pang-hapon siya. Napansin siya [sa] international [scene].”

Recall that just last month, “Impostor” bagged a gold medal recognition from the 2011 International Emmy Awards under the Best Telenovela category.

Maja expressed that she’s happy and not complaining as long as she continues to get “[mga] magandang proyekto and tamang proyekto.”

“Nasa sa 'yo lang po ‘yun kung pagagandahin mo pa, kung huhusayan mo pa para tumatak 'yung character na gagawin mo,” she said.

Maja is set to appear next year on “Precious Hearts Romances Presents: Lumayo Ka Man sa Akin” and in an indie film with boyfriend Matteo Guidicelli, “My Cactus Heart.”

Meanwhile, Maja is now a stronger person after facing her share of controversies this year, which included the misunderstanding with her cousin, actress Deborah Sun; the rumor romantically linking her to her “Thelma” movie director Paul Soriano; and the fist fight between Coco and Matteo at the Star Magic Ball.

“Yes, may mga nangyaring hindi maganda, pero alam kong kailangan ko ‘yun para mas maging matibay ako, 'di ba? ...Para mas maging buo yung pagkatao ko,” she said in the same PEP article.

Quoting her character in “Thelma,” Maja shared, “Sabi ko nga… kailangan mo talagang bumaba. 'Tapos 'pag umangat ka na, umahon ka na.

“Ngayon, eto ka na, mas strong ka na. Mas kaya mo nang harapin,” she told PEP.
