Lino Brocka's PX (1982)

Lydia (Hilda Koronel), a prostitute, is caught between the love of her long-time partner, Sidro (Philip Salvador) who is a hired gun, and an American soldier, George Grace, stationed at a U.S. military base in Pampanga.

As Sidro (Philip Salvador) searched for justice for his younger brother who was shot dead inside the U.S. base, the perpetrator’s identity is kept hidden by the officials of the base and local authority’s inaction forcing Sidro to take justice into his own hands.

The film is a glimpse of a period in Philippine history where the Filipinos’ lives are tied to the base and its soldiers, where poverty, prostitution and criminality is rampant and justice is out of reach.
