Bakal Boys is the story of young metal diver Utoy, who suddenly loses a friend in the middle of a scavenging activity in the open and treacherous Manila Bay. The Film documents the lives of Tondo boys scavenging iron and metal scraps in Baseco compound. Accidental death and disappearances are but natural occurrences that the fatalistic villagers learned to live with. It is in this condition that the film takes a glimpse and depicts their perilous routine and struggles of their lives.

Bakal Boys (Children Metal Divers) is the directorial debut of writer Ralston Jover, based on the screenplay he co-wrote with Henry Burgos. Mr. Jover is the award-winning scriptwriter of the internationally acclaimed films Kubrador, Tirador, and Foster Child.
